🚨 Weekly Highlights 🚨
Socios Teams Up With The NFL
So we’ve mentioned Socios in this newsletter before, they’re somewhat of a big name in the sports-crypto world especially in Europe. But they’re expanding beyond the Premier League and into the National Football League. Socios just inked a marketing partnership with thirteen different NFL teams (no fan tokens yet).
Our honest thoughts? A marketing deal is nothing new. Huge companies partner with NFL teams all the time to market their product. This is no different - and fan tokens that don’t benefit the athletes are not something VO2 stands for. And their logo sucks.
Crypto.com In Bed With Dana White
“Crypto.com has been an official UFC partner for less than a year, and I’m telling you they are already one of the best partners we’ve ever had” UFC president, Dana White, said in a statement. No wonder - Crypto.com is handing out huge rewards to fighters voted in by fans in Bitcoin. $30,000 for first, $20,000 for second, and $10,000 for third. For fighters who have always been criminally underpaid, this is a step in the right direction.
We’re All Gonna Buy A Team!
If you don’t know what WAGMI means, it’s a common acronym in the crypto world that stands for, “we’re all gonna make it!” WAGMI United is trying to buy a soccer team right now, and after a previous failed attempt at buying Bradford City, they just successfully purchased Crawley Town FC!
It’s a much smaller club, but still a huge step forward for the numerous DAOs that are pooling money together to buy sports franchises. WAGBAT?
